The One Show presenter announced live on the show that she is expecting her second baby with her husband after struggling to conceive.
Alex Jones has announced she is pregnant with her second child as she revealed during The One Show that she and husband Charlie Tompson will be giving their 21-month-old son a sibling.
The 41-year-old presenter was congratulated by her co-host Matt Baker before she was inundated with messages from viewers who took to social media to send their well wishes on her pregnancy.
Holding her stomach, the Welsh TV star explained: “Now I’ve not been on the mince pies! There is a little baby – look."
Alex had previously expressed her desire to have a second baby earlier this year, and admitted it had been tough trying to conceive again.
She said: “I have to say, the first time – absolutely fine. Luckily, God, it happened.
“But second time, not as easy. I suppose I’m older now, but we took it for granted that it would be OK. But you don’t really know until you start trying how it’s going to go, do you?
“The majority of couples I know have had something, not always IVF, but some problem that needs to be sorted out.
After announcing the news on The One Show, Alex then took to Twitter to reveal more exciting news to her followers about when her baby is due. She wrote: "So we've got a little bit of news. Charlie and I are expecting another little baby in the new year."
Alex is married to insurance broker Charlie Tompson, they have been married for three years after tying the knot in 2015, and they have a 21-month-old son Edward together.
In her 2016 documentary, Fertility and Me, Alex spoke about her want of a family with her husband.
She said: “In an ideal world, Charlie and I would have met a lot sooner, but we didn’t. I always knew I wanted a family, but I still felt really young.“I thought I was bulletproof, and then you realise if you want a family you do need to get on with it. But if you don’t meet the right person then it’s very difficult.”
