Woman dies on Cheshire's M56

Police were called to the collision at around 4pm yesterday evening. It happened on the eastbound carriageway, near to the Chester Services at Hapsford.

The woman who died in the crash was treated at the scene and then airlifted to hospital. Police have now confirmed to Heart News that she has now died and her family are being told. Five others who were hurt in the collision are being treated in hospital.

The carriageway was shut for a number of hours while Police officers at the scene launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision. They had to work to remove a number of vehicles from the road.

Further delays were caused by people on the opposite side of the carriageway slowing down to view what had happened.

Cheshire Police are appealing to anyone who may have information relating to the collision or anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them using the 101 number quoting incident number 607.
