Lake Toddler Dies

A two year old girl who was found in a lake at Northampton's Billing Aquadrome in March 2013 has died in hospital.

Mandi Munhuwa, from Northampton, was found in a lake at Billing Aquadrome on 10 March after being missing for a short time.

She was taken to Northampton General Hospital and later transferred to Glenfield Hospital in Leicester.

The girl went on to receive treatment at Leicester Royal Infirmary.  Northamptonshire Police say she died at the hospital on Friday 10 May.

A force spokeswoman said a post mortem examination and inquest will take place in due course.

The girl's family have asked that media respect their privacy at this sad time, she added.

Following Mandi's death, The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents have told Heart people should not underestimate how dangerous open water can be.
