A photo has been released of the baby that was left at the Norfolk and Norwich hospital by its mother shortly after being born.
Police say they are extremely concerned for the welfare of the mother and hope the picture may encourage her to come forward.
Agnieszka Marciniaki, 32, was last seen at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital at around 11.30am on Saturday 30 January. She told staff she would return to the hospital once she had had gathered some possessions.
Agnieshka had given birth to a baby girl just prior to her departure from the hospital.
Agnieshka is described as white with a round face and short dark hair and has a good grasp of the English language. She arrived in the UK from Poland last week and it is believed she has connections with friends in the Lakenham and Tuckswood area of Norwich.
Inspector James Brown who is now leading the investigation said: “We remain concerned for Agnieshka’s whereabouts and are working with our colleagues in Children’s Services to try and locate her.
"We have released a photograph of her baby girl to aid us with our aim of reuniting Agnieszka with her baby who is fit and well.
"I am once again appealing to anyone who knows Agnieszka or anyone who thinks they may have seen her to contact us. I also appeal to Agnieszka herself to return and see her baby. I would stress that she is not in trouble and can return without fear that she will be arrested."
Anyone with any information into Agnieshka’s whereabouts should call Inspector James Brown on 0845 456 4567.
