A body has been found in the search for a missing hillwalker who disappeared more than a year-and-a-half ago.

Ross Kinghorn, 57, travelled by train from Linlithgow, West Lothian, in January 2023 with the intention of exploring the Bridge of Tilt area of Perthshire.

He was last seen in Blair Atholl and is believed to have set out for the nearby Beinn a' Ghlo hill range.

Personal items belonging to Mr Kinghorn were later found near Bridge of Tilt during a search operation.

In an update this week, Police Scotland said the body of a man had been recovered from the Glenfernate area of Blairgowrie at around 4.50pm on Tuesday.

Formal identification is yet to take place, but the force believe it to be Mr Kinghorn and have informed his family.
