Mother accused of murdering her five-year-old son remanded into custody

A woman accused of murdering her five-year-old son has been remanded into custody by a judge following her first court appearance.
Claire Button, who is charged with the murder of Lincoln Button, appeared by video-link from HMP Peterborough during a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday.
The boy died following an incident on Windstar Drive, South Ockendon, on Sunday 15 December, Essex Police said.
Police were called to the scene following reports of serious concerns for the welfare of a child and a woman.
At court on Tuesday, the 35-year-old Button spoke only to confirm her name - and was not asked to enter a plea.

No application for bail was made.
Judge Christopher Morgan remanded Button into custody until a plea hearing takes place at Basildon Crown Court on 20 January.
