British women believe two years and five months into a relationship is the ideal time for their partner to propose, according to a new poll.
Most British women would not follow the example of Kate Middleton, who won the nickname "Waity Katy" for waiting around seven years for a proposal. 1 in 10 British women has dumped a partner for taking too long to pop the question.
One sixth of those questioned claimed they had met someone else while waiting for their other half to get down on one knee.
8 in 10 women said they would insist on living with their partner for at least a year before deciding to tie the knot.
