What is an Apprenticeship?

An Apprenticeship is a way for young people and adult learners to earn while they learn in a real job, gaining a real qualification and a real future. Apprenticeship opportunities are increasing at a record rate, with over 500,000 people starting an Apprenticeship in the 2011/12 academic year. After finishing, the majority of apprentices (85%) will stay in employment, with two-thirds (64%) staying with the same employer.
