A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man in north-east London.
Scotland Yard say they were called to Richmond Road in Ilford at about 3.35am yesterday (Sunday 28 December) after reports of an assault.
Officers found a man aged in his late 50s who had been stabbed.
He was rushed to hospital but died shortly before 8am.
A 30-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and was later re-arrested on suspicion of murder.
He remains in custody.
The dead man is yet to be formally identified and a post-mortem examination has not yet been held.
The homicide command's Detective Chief Inspector Russell Taylor said: "I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the stabbing, or the build up to the incident to contact us. We know that a number of people were at a party at a nearby address and it is possible that they saw something of importance.
"We are particularly keen to speak with anyone who attended that event who is yet to come forward."
