Party Nails for the festive season
Over the last twelve months, beauty fans have gone wild with their nails. We've seen everything from crackle glaze to matte to glitter, magnetic polishes and velvet. We've tried out some of the ways to make your nails stand out.

1. We tried: Nails Inc Concrete in Stonehenge
The concrete finish from Nails Inc comes in a range of bright colours and has a finish that looks like sand. It's a great colour, and gives an unusual effect that is different from your usual matte or satin lacquers. It was easy to apply, and will definitely attract attention. (£12).

Urban textures and finishes are set to be the biggest trend for nails in 2013. Leading the way are Nails Inc who are launching their concrete range on 20th December, just in time for Christmas. (£12 each).

3. We tried: Nails Inc Bling It On Leather & Skulls Kit in Soho Mews
Create a leather effect manicure using this special range from Nails Inc. Paint on a base coat and two layers of the lacquer and it dries with an effect to match your favourite handbag, jacket or shoes. Skip the top coat otherwise the polish won't have the same effect. Apply a little crystal skull onto nails for added bling. (£19).

5. We tried: Original Sugar, Glitter velveteen
Create an unusual effect using Original Sugar's Glitter Velveteen range. Coat your nails with your usual manicure - but after applying the top coat, dip nails into the glistening fluffy particles. Blow the excess off and you are left with a unique effect. (£5.95).

7. We tried: Hi Shine Nails Manicure in Dark Secret
If you want a long-lasting manicure then gel nails are for you. Not only do they leave you with an ultra-glossy effect, they won't chip or break for three weeks. Great for convenience, not so good for those who get bored easily. (£15 per polish, £99 per at-home kit).
