A man is in a life-threatening condition in hospital after being stabbed in Southend.
Police were called by the ambulance service shortly after 2am yesterday (Sunday 16 March) following reports that a man had been stabbed on Southchurch Road.
Officers found the 24-year-old from the Rayleigh area with a stab wound to his abdominal area.
He was taken to hospital by paramedics and is currently in a critical, life-threatening condition.
Senior Investigating Officer, DCI Simon Werrett, said: "We have established that this man was attacked near The Slug and Lettuce bar at a busy time on Sunday morning, with many late-night revellers making their way home.
"We believe two white men in their early 20s are responsible for this assault and are looking to identify them.
"With this in mind, we would ask anyone who had a partner or relative come home in the early hours of Sunday morning with blood on their body or clothes to contact us."
Anyone with information in connection with this stabbing is urged to contact detectives at Southend police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
