Hertfordshire's Fire Service were called out to free the man on the A1001 near Hatfield just after 8pm on Thursday 8 March 2012. A health and safety investigation is now underway.
The man was involved in resurfacing works for Hertfordshire's Highways, who say they are supporting the investigation by the Health and Safety Executive. They say their thoughts are with the man affected, and they wish him a speedy recovery.
