Detectives in Bournemouth are investigating a report of a cash-in-transit robbery at the Nationwide Building Society along Christchurch High Street.
At 11.09pm last night, Thursday 19 January 2012, two men allegedly threatened two security guards with tools before making off with cash. The security guards were not injured as a result of this incident.
Officers attended and, with the assistance of a member of the public, located a car along Grange Road in Southbourne. A 43-year-old Bournemouth man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery and he continues to help police with their enquiries.
The missing cash box has been recovered.
Detective Constable Richard Winn, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I understand that a number of members of the public were in the area at the time of this incident and I am appealing for anyone with any information to contact Dorset Police as soon as possible.”
