People from across the UK are visiting Bristol to see our City's CCTV network.
It's all because the government say the City's network is an example of best practice.
The council even provide monitoring services for council's as far away as Hampshire.
The emergency control centre's manager who we can't name for security reasons told Heart 'Our operators are highly experienced at spotting incidents and alerting the police immediatley. The footage have been vital to detering crime or securing convictions, for example in the case of Isa Ibrahim who was convicted of explosive and terrorism charges last year.'
He added 'some of the equipment is pretty impressive as well. We can read numberplates from 400 yards and some cameras have 43x zoom. One up high in the city centre can read a car numberplate in Bedminster.'
