A man and a woman were killed in a road crash at Chicksands in Bedfordshire this morning.
They were in a silver VW Passatt that was involved in an accident with a black Vauxhall Astra on the A600 near to Rowney Warren at 9.36 am.
The 38 year old man, who was driving, and the 39 year old woman passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver in the Vauxhall Astra was taken to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage with minor injuries.
Beds Police say a full collision investigation is underway. The road was closed while the vehicles were recovered.
PC Andy Carter, of the Collision Investigation Unit, is keen to speak with anyone who saw the collision or anyone who saw either car prior to the collision as they were travelling on the A600.
Ambulance crews from Kempston, Letchworth, Shefford and the Hertfordshire Air Ambulance attended the scene.
Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson, who attended the incident said: "First and foremost our thoughts are with the man and womans families at this tragic time. Following a rapid scene assessemnt by our first paramedic at scene, the man and woman together in a car were pronounced dead. Another man who was a solo occuapnt in the other car involved received minor injuries. He was immobilised by paramedics then taken to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage for further care."
