Connie Talbot and African Children's Choir

Connie Talbot, who has sold over a quarter of a million records worldwide and was a finalist in Britain’s Got Talent, has taken on a new role as an ambassador for the World Famous African Children’s Choir.

A position she will celebrate in a special concert singing alongside the Choir, and local school choirs from High Littleton Primary and Longvernal Primary, at The Forum in Bath this Friday 25th October.

Connie, who was runner up to Paul Potts in BGT, will perform with the acclaimed Choir who have sung with Mariah Carey, Annie Lenox and Gary Barlow at the Queens Diamond Jubilee concert. She will join the Choir in raising much needed funds for some of the poorest children in Africa.

Connie Talbot attracted international attention when as a 6 year old she performed Eva Cassidy’s ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ on BGT.  Her performance went viral within hours and drew praise across the globe. Six years later Connie has released her fourth album ‘Beautiful World’ at the age of 12.

Connie said

The African Children’s Choir are my friends so performing with them is fantastic. I cannot wait to get back on stage with them in Bath. People love them wherever they go and I just love singing with them.”

She has already performed with them on the Young Voices Arena Tour earlier this year, and now the ‘Beautiful World’ singer will be helping her friends raise further awareness of the vital relief and education projects they run by becoming an official ambassador for the charity.
Connie is also to become an ambassador for the Choir.

“I want to do whatever I can to help children in Africa who are very poor and have none of the things that most children of my age have. Some of them are orphans and the African Children’s Choir gives them a chance in life. I have been told about children from previous Choirs who had nothing before they joined the Choir but have gone on to be teachers, doctors and lawyers. I hope that my friends in the Choir can do things they want to by singing in the Choir.”

The African Children's Choir travels the world, acting as the ambassador for Africa's most in need children - raising much needed awareness and funds for the education of the continent’s most vulnerable children, as well as their own education, as they go. They have performed at prestigious concerts such as Live8 and most recently at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations with Gary Barlow on the number one single ‘Sing’.

Music for Life is the official fundraising charity of the African Children’s Choir and works in seven African countries. Music for Life have educated over 52,000 children as well as impacting the lives of over 100,000 children through its relief and development programmes during its 29 year history; creating ChangeMakers for the future of Africa.

Connie and her band will join the African Children’s Choir at a special concert at The Forum in Bath at 7.30pm on Friday 25th October.  She will accompany the Choir in singing the Gary Barlow produced number one single ‘Sing’, as performed by the African Children’s Choir at last year’s Diamond Jubilee, as well as singing solo the beautiful ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’, the audition song that won over Simon Cowell and the Britain’s Got Talent judging panel. The concert will also feature choirs from local schools High Littleton Primary and Longvernal Primary.
