A man has died at the Castle Mall Shopping Centre after being found with serious injuries on the ground floor.
Police were called at around 7.20pm yesterday evening following reports of a young man falling from one of the upper levels near to the cinema.
The man who officers have confirmed was in his mid 20s and from the Norwich area was discovered on the ground level with serious injuries. Police say he died despite the efforts of medical staff at the scene.
Late night shoppers and people in the Vue cinema had to evacuated to allow emergency services to attend the scene.
The area was sealed off and investigations are underway to work out the circumstances surrounding the death, which at this stage Norfolk Police say is not being treated as suspicious.
Eye witnesses say they thought they saw a coat being dropped form an upper level, before they were all asked to leave the area. Staff in nearby shops have told Heart they were asked to close their shutters.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious and are preparing a file for the coroner, but they would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened.
This morning the Castle Mall have released a statement. They've told Heart: "We are liaising closely with Norfolk Police and assisting with their enquiries. Our thoughts are with the friends and family concerned at this very sad time."
